Their teachings thread through the affirmation, gratitude, and practice that follow — and you are invited to tap each card to reveal its full letter when you arrive below.
Today, softly, the body offers the tender first small choosing — standing at the crossroads, listening to the heart, and choosing the path that is truly her own.
The sacred nineteenth morning finds the waning Moon fully in Gemini, the sign of the twins — two paths, two voices, two possibilities. Gemini loves options, and sometimes the many options make choosing hard. It is Thursday, Jupiter’s own day, and Jupiter is the planet of wisdom, meaning, and growth.
Today’s tarot is The Lovers, the card of Gemini itself, and the card of heart-led choice. Choosing is not, faithfully, about finding the perfect answer. She is the quiet act of listening inward and saying yes to what matches your values. The affirmation names the practice: stand at the crossroads, listen, and choose.
Today, I give thanks for the freedom to choose — for every crossroads I have stood at, every path I have chosen with my whole heart, and every door that is still open before me.
For much of history, many women had little say in the great choices of their own lives — whom to marry, where to live, what work to do. The freedom to choose is precious, and it was hard-won by the women who came before us. Today’s gratitude honors that freedom.
The chronic cultural pull is to treat choices as burdens — to fear the wrong decision so much that we hand our choices to others. Today’s gratitude honors the older wisdom of the heart: every choice made in love is a sacred act.
Today’s Lovers carries this exactly — the sacred first-choosing-beloved standing barefoot in a sunlit garden beside her beloved, a tree of fruit and blossoms behind her and a tree of small flames behind him, a radiant angel with outstretched wings above them in the open sky, a distant mountain rising between them, a sprig of lavender held in her open hand. She is not waiting to be chosen. She is choosing, with an open hand.
The rare embodied capacity for tender feminine choosing — the body who can, softly, feel her own yes and her own no, and let her choices come from her values rather than from fear or pressure.
The waning Moon in Gemini on Jupiter’s own Thursday brings a particular invitation to the body: notice where you feel pulled in two directions. Gemini can leave the mind racing between choices. The body, though, often already knows — a lightness toward one path, a heaviness toward another.
Mercury, ruler of Gemini, is still retrograde in Scorpio. Retrogrades are better for reviewing choices than for rushing into new ones: for revisiting a decision, clarifying what you value, and choosing again with fresh eyes. Meanwhile the Moon makes a friendly sextile to Jupiter in Leo, offering warmth, courage, and a bigger view.
The newly-begun cycle carries, faithfully, its words so far: kindling → meeting → claiming → seeking → hoping → grounding → steadying → resolving → belonging → envisioning → intuiting → surrendering → renewing → standing → flourishing → savoring → sharing → reconnecting → choosing. Yesterday’s reconnecting turns into a clearer sense of what — and whom — we choose.
Today asks the body one small practice: allow one small choosing. One small yes said clearly. One small no said kindly. One small decision made from the heart instead of from fear.
A card chooses you
A card from the deck
Today the waning Moon travels through Gemini, the sign of the twins and of the crossroads, on Jupiter’s own Thursday. She sends a friendly sextile to Jupiter in Leo, while Mercury, her ruler, walks retrograde in Scorpio. A day for listening inward and choosing from the heart.

Waning Moon in Gemini on Jupiter-dayand the sacred geometry of the body’s tender first small choosing
The waning gibbous Moon, now around 82–89% illuminated, travels through the middle of Gemini. The Sun rests at Scorpio 6°. Each night the Moon rises a little later, and her shadowed side grows a little wider.
Gemini is the sign of the twins, and The Lovers is her tarot card — the card of union and of choice. Today is Thursday, Jupiter’s own day. From Gemini the Moon makes a friendly sextile to Jupiter and Mars in Leo, bringing warmth and confidence, and keeps a gentle trine to Venus, retrograde in Libra. Mercury, Gemini’s ruler, remains retrograde in Scorpio, asking us to review rather than rush.
Somatically: Gemini can scatter the attention — many tabs open, many voices, many maybes. The small flutter of indecision, the small tightness of trying to please everyone, the small, surprising calm when one choice finally feels right. Let the breath slow down until the body’s own answer can be heard.
The sacred art the body practices today: not forcing, not avoiding, just honest choosing. The Lovers teaches this exactly — the sacred first-choosing-beloved standing barefoot in a sunlit garden beside her beloved, a tree of fruit and blossoms behind her and a tree of small flames behind him, a radiant angel with outstretched wings above them in the open sky, a distant mountain rising between them, a sprig of lavender held in her open hand. Two paths stand open, and she chooses the one her heart recognizes.

You pierce my soul.
I am half agony, half hope.
— Jane Austen, Persuasion
Jane Austen — born in Steventon, Hampshire, in 1775, the seventh of eight children of a country clergyman; who began writing comic stories as a girl to amuse her family; who published her novels anonymously, signed only “By a Lady”; and who wrote Persuasion in the last years of her short life — died in 1817, and the novel was published a few months after her death. These words come from the letter Captain Frederick Wentworth writes to Anne Elliot, the woman he loved and lost eight years before.
You pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope. Years earlier, Anne was persuaded to give Wentworth up. Now he writes, quickly and secretly, while she talks with a friend in the same room, telling her his heart has never changed. The letter asks her to choose again — and this time she chooses with her own heart. It is often called the most romantic letter in English literature, and it is, at its core, about a second chance to choose love freely.
Today’s Sacred First-Choosing lives in Wentworth’s letter directly. Half agony, half hope — that is how the heart often feels at a crossroads. The Lovers reminds us that love is a choice made freely, and Mercury retrograde, the season of second chances, invites us to choose again where our hearts are still true.
Where in your life are you standing at a crossroads right now, and what is your heart — beneath the noise of other people’s opinions — quietly asking you to choose?
Sometimes the tender first small choosing does not open easily. Big decisions can feel frightening, and the fear of choosing wrong can freeze us in place. The body’s soft first-choosing may feel hesitant.
Three softer entry-points into today’s question, each honoring the body’s own faithful pace:
- Values door: write down three things that matter most to you. Let them be the compass for any choice.
- Two-paths door: imagine yourself one year down each path. Write how your body feels in each picture.
- Small-yes door: name one tiny choice you can make today that honors what you truly want.
The tender first small choosing of the sacred first-choosing-beloved — five small acts of soft feminine listening and heart-led decision, honored as the whole holy work of this sacred nineteenth morning of the newly-begun cycle, on Jupiter’s own venerated Thursday.
Today’s medicine begins with arriving in the body. The Lovers stand barefoot on the earth, under an open sky. Grounding first quiets the busy Gemini mind, so the deeper voice of the heart has room to speak.
Gemini rules the crossroads. Naming the choice clearly, without rushing, gives it shape and lets it soften. Mercury retrograde favors this kind of patient review.
The body often knows before the mind does. A lightness, an opening, a soft breath — these are the heart’s yes. A tightening or a sinking can be a quiet no. Austen’s line lives here: half agony, half hope, until the heart finds its answer.
Jupiter, honored today and warmly sextile the Moon, brings courage and faith. The choice does not have to be final or perfect. It only has to be true for today.
The closing whisper seals the practice. Nothing further is required today — the small first-choosing allowed here is, faithfully, the whole practice, complete on its own tender terms, blessed by the Lovers’ choosing-beloved on the nineteenth morning, as the waning Moon travels through Gemini.
