Note: The Ace of Wands is often depicted as a disembodied hand from a cloud, read as a sky-god’s blessing dropped down from above. Here it is, faithfully, softened back into feminine form — the sacred Great Mother’s hand offering the sacred first-wand, the sacred first-spark that is alive and growing green leaves.
The Ace of Wands carries the energy of sacred first-fire, the sacred spark that is not yet the flame it will become — the moment before the fire, when the tinder catches, when the wand you have been holding begins, softly, to sprout.
She is not, softly, asking you to produce yet. She is not asking you to name what this fire will become, either. She is offering the small tender spark itself: recognize it, hold it softly, do not blow it out with the demand to know its purpose.
This is not output.
It is sparking.
There is a difference.
Ursula K. Le Guin names it: Light is the left hand of darkness, and darkness the right hand of light.
The sacred first-spark does not need to earn its right to be seen.
It comes, softly, from the very darkness the waning crescent is deepening.
It has, faithfully, always been yours.
