Note: Temperance is often depicted as a winged angel. Here she is, faithfully, softened back into her more human form — the sacred sovereign priestess standing at the water’s edge, holding two small tender cups and pouring softly between them.
Temperance carries the energy of sacred integration, gentle alchemy, and the tender wisdom of the sovereign who has arrived at the exact halfway and knows, softly, that this is not a place to rush past.
She is not, faithfully, choosing between the two cups. She is not, faithfully, deciding which is right. She is standing at the edge of land and water — one foot in each — and letting the sacred flow move gently from one vessel to the other.
This is not indecision.
It is integration.
There is a difference.
Marion Woodman names it: The presence in the body is the presence of the goddess.
You do not have to leave your body to find the sacred.
You do not have to pick a side to be whole.
The blending itself is the goddess arriving through you.
