Today the card comes for anyone ready to begin a new study. Not abstractly. Specifically. The body that wants to be tended differently. The skill that wants to be practiced. The discipline that has been calling for years and you are finally ready to answer. The first coin is in your hand. Look at it carefully. Begin.

Bring to mind one specific practice you have been wanting to begin — a discipline, a craft, a skill, a way of caring for your body or mind. Choose something concrete, not abstract. "I want to learn to bake bread." "I want to begin a stretching practice." "I want to learn to draw."

Today, take one specific apprentice's action. Buy the flour. Read the first chapter. Set the alarm twenty minutes earlier. Find one specific tool. Hold the first coin.

Do it slowly, with the attention of someone who has never done it before. Even if you have done it many times. Beginner's mind is the discipline.
