Their teachings thread through the affirmation, gratitude, and practice that follow — and you are invited to tap each card to reveal its full letter when you arrive below.
Today, softly, the body offers the tender first small reconnecting — reaching back toward an old friend, a sister, a familiar voice, and letting the thread between them warm again.
The sacred eighteenth morning carries the waning Moon from Taurus into Gemini, the sign of the twins — of siblings, neighbors, conversation, and connection. It is Wednesday, Mercury’s own day, and Mercury rules Gemini. But Mercury is retrograde, walking backward through Scorpio, turning our attention to the past.
Mercury retrograde is famous for reconnections: old friends reappearing, forgotten letters resurfacing, conversations circling back. Reconnecting is not, faithfully, living in the past. She is the warm return to people and places that shaped you, carried into the present. The affirmation names the practice: reach back, and let the thread warm.
Today, I give thanks for the people who knew me long ago — childhood friends, sisters and brothers, old neighbors, the ones who remember who I was before I became who I am.
Some people hold a part of our story that no one else can. They knew us as children, or in a season of life that has passed. When we talk with them, we remember parts of ourselves we had almost forgotten. Today’s gratitude is for those keepers of our history.
The chronic cultural pull is to keep moving forward and let old connections fade, as if only new relationships matter. Today’s gratitude honors the older wisdom of the village: the people who knew us first are a treasure worth keeping.
Today’s Six of Cups carries this exactly — the sacred first-remembering-sister in an old village courtyard, bending gently to offer a younger child a golden cup filled with small white flowers, five more cups of blossoms resting on the stone steps around them, the warm walls of a familiar house behind them, an old friend passing by in the distance, a sprig of lavender among the flowers in her cup. She is not trying to go back. She is bringing the sweetness of the past into the present moment.
The rare embodied capacity for tender feminine reconnection — the body who can, softly, reach back to people from her past with warmth, and let old bonds be renewed without old wounds taking over.
The waning Moon entering Gemini on Mercury’s own Wednesday brings a particular invitation to the body: notice who has been on your mind. A name that keeps surfacing, a face in a dream, a song that reminds you of someone — these may be quiet nudges to reach out.
Mercury, ruler of Gemini, is retrograde in Scorpio, the sign of depth. Retrogrades are good times to return rather than begin: to call an old friend, reread an old letter, or finish a conversation left unfinished. The Moon in Gemini also forms an easy air-trine with Venus, retrograde in Libra, softening relationships and inviting kindness.
The newly-begun cycle carries, faithfully, its words so far: kindling → meeting → claiming → seeking → hoping → grounding → steadying → resolving → belonging → envisioning → intuiting → surrendering → renewing → standing → flourishing → savoring → sharing → reconnecting. Yesterday’s sharing turns into conversation.
Today asks the body one small practice: allow one small reconnecting. One small message sent. One small memory shared. One small thread between you and someone from your past, warmed again.

Today the waning Moon leaves Taurus and enters Gemini, the sign of the twins and of conversation, on Mercury’s own Wednesday. Mercury himself walks retrograde in Scorpio, turning our attention to the past. The Moon in Gemini sends a warm trine to Venus in Libra. A day for reaching back to old friends and kindred spirits.

Waning Moon entering Gemini on Mercury-dayand the sacred geometry of the body’s tender first small reconnecting
The waning gibbous Moon, now around 90–96% illuminated, finishes her journey through Taurus and crosses into Gemini early in the day. The Sun rests at Scorpio 5°. The Moon now rises later each evening, and a growing slice of shadow shows on her left side.
Gemini is ruled by Mercury, and today is Mercury’s own Wednesday. But Mercury is retrograde in Scorpio, traveling backward until mid-November. The combination favors conversations with the past: reconnecting, revisiting, remembering. From Gemini the Moon makes a harmonious air-trine to Venus, retrograde in Libra, and a friendly sextile to Mars and Jupiter in Leo. Relationships feel lighter and kinder today.
Somatically: Gemini days often bring a busy, chatty quality — thoughts jumping, a wish to talk and connect. With Mercury retrograde, that energy may turn toward memory: an old song, an old photo, an old name. The small smile when a memory surfaces, the small warmth of an old friend’s voice, the small lightness after a long, easy conversation. Let the mind wander back, gently.
The sacred art the body practices today: not dwelling, not avoiding, just warm reconnecting. The Six of Cups teaches this exactly — the sacred first-remembering-sister in an old village courtyard, bending gently to offer a younger child a golden cup filled with small white flowers, five more cups of blossoms resting on the stone steps around them, the warm walls of a familiar house behind them, an old friend passing by in the distance, a sprig of lavender among the flowers in her cup. The past offers its flowers, and she receives them with a smile.
The twelve currents today

Kindred spirits are not so scarce as I used to think.
It’s splendid to find out there are so many of them in the world.
— L. M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables
Lucy Maud Montgomery — born in Clifton, Prince Edward Island, in 1874, who lost her mother as a baby and was raised by her grandparents in the farming village of Cavendish; who began keeping a journal and writing stories as a girl; who worked as a teacher and a newspaper writer before her first novel, Anne of Green Gables (1908), became an international success; who went on to write some twenty novels and hundreds of stories; and who died in 1942 — gave these words to her red-haired, talkative heroine, Anne Shirley, in that first book.
Kindred spirits are not so scarce as I used to think. It’s splendid to find out there are so many of them in the world. Anne, an orphan who once believed she would always be alone, discovers that the people who understand her are everywhere — in neighbors, teachers, old women, and friends she never expected. It is one of the most beloved discoveries in children’s literature: the joy of finding your people, again and again, throughout life.
Today’s Sacred First-Reconnecting lives in Anne’s words directly. The remembering-sister of the Six of Cups is offering flowers to a kindred spirit. Mercury retrograde invites us to rediscover the kindred spirits we already have — and to be glad all over again that they exist.
Who from your past has been on your mind lately — a friend, a sister, a teacher, a kindred spirit — and what small cup of flowers could you offer them today to warm the thread between you again?
Sometimes the tender first small reconnecting does not open easily. Time and distance can make reaching out feel awkward, and some old connections carry tender places. The body’s soft first-reconnecting may feel shy.
Three softer entry-points into today’s question, each honoring the body’s own faithful pace:
- Courtyard door: describe one place from your childhood where you felt happy and safe.
- Kindred door: name three kindred spirits you have known in your life. Write one thing each of them gave you.
- Flower door: write a short note to someone from your past. You do not have to send it — but you might.
The tender first small reconnecting of the sacred first-remembering-sister — five small acts of soft feminine remembrance and reaching out, honored as the whole holy work of this sacred eighteenth morning of the newly-begun cycle, on Mercury’s own venerated Wednesday.
Today’s medicine begins with memory held in the hands. The Six of Cups is the card of sweet remembrance. Touching something from the past tells the nervous system that your history is part of you, and that it is safe to remember.
Gemini and Mercury rule the mind and memory. With Mercury retrograde, the past is especially close today. Letting a happy memory fill the body is a way of receiving the cup of flowers the card offers.
Montgomery’s line lives here: kindred spirits are not so scarce. Many of them are already part of our story, waiting only for a word to bring them close again.
The Moon in Gemini loves conversation, and Mercury retrograde favors returning to old connections. A single message can warm a thread that has been cool for years.
The closing whisper seals the practice. Nothing further is required today — the small first-reconnecting allowed here is, faithfully, the whole practice, complete on its own tender terms, blessed by the Six of Cups’ remembering-sister on the eighteenth morning, as the waning Moon enters Gemini.
