Today, softly, the body offers the tender first small balancing — moving gracefully between work and rest, giving and receiving, and finding her center not in stillness alone, but in the dance.
The sacred twenty-sixth morning carries the slender waning crescent out of Virgo and into Libra, the sign of the scales — of harmony, fairness, and balance. In Libra she draws close to Venus, who has been walking retrograde through her own sign. It is Thursday, Jupiter’s own day, the day of generosity and growth.
After yesterday’s quieting comes the balancing. Balancing is not, faithfully, about getting everything perfectly even. She is the living, moving art of adjusting — a little more rest here, a little more effort there, like a dancer shifting her weight. The affirmation names the practice: find your center in motion.
Today, I give thanks for the rhythm of my life — for days of effort and days of rest, for times of giving and times of receiving, and for the wisdom that helps me move gracefully between them.
Life rarely stays still. Work and home, people and solitude, energy and tiredness — all of them rise and fall, asking us again and again to adjust. That constant adjusting can feel tiring, but it is also a sign of life. Today’s gratitude honors the flexibility that keeps us upright.
The chronic cultural pull is to believe that balance means doing everything, all at once, perfectly. Today’s gratitude honors the older wisdom of the seasons: balance is a rhythm, not a fixed point — summer and winter, day and night, each in its turn.
Today’s Two of Pentacles carries this exactly — the sacred first-dancing-keeper balancing two golden pentacles in her hands, a loop of green ribbon winding around them in the shape of an infinity sign, her bare feet light upon the shore, two small ships riding high waves on the sea behind her, a sprig of lavender tucked into her hair. She does not hold the pentacles still. She keeps them moving, and she smiles.
The rare embodied capacity for tender feminine balancing — the body who can, softly, notice when she has tipped too far toward effort or toward others, and gently return to her own center, again and again, without judgment.
The waning crescent Moon entering Libra on Jupiter’s own Thursday brings a particular invitation to the body: notice where you are out of balance. Too much work and too little rest? Too much giving and too little receiving? Libra, ruled by Venus, holds the scales and asks us to weigh our lives with kindness.
The Moon now draws close to Venus, retrograde in Libra. Venus retrograde is a time to review our relationships and our pleasures — and to ask whether our love for others is balanced by love for ourselves. Jupiter, honored today, adds generosity and a wider view, reminding us that balance is a gift we can offer ourselves.
The newly-begun cycle carries, faithfully, its words so far: kindling → meeting → claiming → seeking → hoping → grounding → steadying → resolving → belonging → envisioning → intuiting → surrendering → renewing → standing → flourishing → savoring → sharing → reconnecting → choosing → homecoming → honoring → forgiving → celebrating → clearing → quieting → balancing. Yesterday’s quieting helped us hear what we need; today’s balancing helps us give it to ourselves.
Today asks the body one small practice: allow one small balancing. One small rest added to a busy day. One small yes to receiving help. One small adjustment toward your own center.

Today the slender waning crescent leaves Virgo and enters Libra, the sign of the scales, on Jupiter’s own Thursday. In Libra she draws close to Venus, retrograde in her own sign, while Mercury walks retrograde in Scorpio. As her light dwindles toward the New Moon, she invites a gentle rebalancing of work and rest, giving and receiving.

Waning Crescent Moon entering Libra on Jupiter-dayand the sacred geometry of the body’s tender first small balancing
The Moon, now a thin waning crescent around 12–20% illuminated, finishes her passage through Virgo and enters Libra. The Sun rests at Scorpio 13°. She rises just before dawn, a fine silver thread low in the east, and the New Moon is only days away.
Libra is ruled by Venus, and today the Moon comes close to Venus herself, still retrograde in Libra — a soft, tender meeting that turns the heart toward relationships, beauty, and fairness. Mercury remains retrograde in Scorpio. Today is Thursday, Jupiter’s own day, bringing warmth, generosity, and a bigger view.
Somatically: Libra days often bring a sensitivity to imbalance — feeling uncomfortable when things are unfair, rushed, or one-sided. The small tilt in the body when you are giving too much, the small sigh of relief when someone offers to help, the small ease of a day with both work and rest in it. Let the body show you where it needs to rebalance.
The sacred art the body practices today: not rigid, not collapsing, just graceful balancing. The Two of Pentacles teaches this exactly — the sacred first-dancing-keeper balancing two golden pentacles in her hands, a loop of green ribbon winding around them in the shape of an infinity sign, her bare feet light upon the shore, two small ships riding high waves on the sea behind her, a sprig of lavender tucked into her hair. The sea rises and falls behind her, and still she dances.

Life is like riding a bicycle.
To keep your balance, you must keep moving.
— Albert Einstein, letter to his son Eduard, 1930
Albert Einstein — born in Ulm, Germany, in 1879, a curious boy who loved music and played the violin all his life; who worked as a clerk in a Swiss patent office while developing the theories that would change physics; and who won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1921 — wrote these words in a letter to his younger son, Eduard, in February 1930, during a difficult time in Eduard’s life. Einstein himself loved to ride a bicycle and to sail. He died in Princeton, New Jersey, in 1955.
Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving. Einstein offered this simple, fatherly image to encourage his son to keep going through hard days. Balance, he suggests, is not about standing perfectly still. It is something we find in motion — a gentle, constant adjusting, the way a rider leans and steers. It is one of his most loved and most human sayings.
Today’s Sacred First-Balancing lives in Einstein’s words directly. Balance is not standing still; it is moving with care. The dancing-keeper of the Two of Pentacles keeps her pentacles in motion, and that motion is exactly what keeps her upright.
Where in your life do you feel most out of balance right now — and what one small adjustment, made with kindness, would help you move back toward your own center?
Sometimes the tender first small balancing does not open easily. When life feels overwhelming, it can be hard to see where to begin. The body’s soft first-balancing may start with a single small shift.
Three softer entry-points into today’s question, each honoring the body’s own faithful pace:
- Scales door: draw two columns: “what fills me” and “what drains me.” Notice which is longer.
- Giving door: list what you give to others each week, then what you receive. Where might you ask for more?
- Rhythm door: describe your ideal ordinary day, with both effort and rest in it.
The tender first small balancing of the sacred first-dancing-keeper — five small acts of soft feminine adjusting and returning to center, honored as the whole holy work of this sacred twenty-sixth morning of the newly-begun cycle, on Jupiter’s own venerated Thursday.
Today’s medicine begins with the body’s own balance. The Two of Pentacles dances on the shore. Swaying slowly reminds the body that balance is a living, moving thing, found again and again.
Libra holds the scales. Turning your life into a simple image in your own hands makes imbalance easy to see, without judgment or overthinking.
Small shifts are how balance is truly kept. Einstein’s line lives here: balance comes from moving, steering a little this way and that, not from waiting until everything is perfect.
The Moon meets Venus, retrograde in Libra. Venus asks us to balance our love for others with love for ourselves. Jupiter, honored today, blesses generosity — including generosity turned inward.
The closing whisper seals the practice. Nothing further is required today — the small first-balancing allowed here is, faithfully, the whole practice, complete on its own tender terms, blessed by the Two of Pentacles’ dancing-keeper on the twenty-sixth morning, as the waning crescent enters Libra.
