Today, softly, the body offers the tender first small seeking — lifting her gaze from the near ground to the far horizon, and letting herself wonder what might be waiting there.
The sacred fourth morning lifts the new cycle out of deep water. For two days the crescent swam through Scorpio, meeting the heart and claiming its strength. In the early hours today she rose into Sagittarius, Jupiter’s fire sign — the sign of the archer, the pilgrim, and the open road.
Seeking is not, faithfully, restlessness or escape. She is the honest wish to know more, see further, and grow. It is Wednesday, Mercury’s own day, the day of learning and messages. The young Moon sends a warm fire-trine to Mars and Jupiter in Leo. The affirmation names the practice: look up, look out, and let curiosity lead.
Today, I give thanks for my own curiosity — the part of me that still wonders, still asks, still wants to see what lies beyond the next hill, no matter how many hills I have already crossed.
Curiosity is one of the quiet gifts that keeps a life open. It asks questions that have no immediate use, notices small wonders, and wants to learn for the joy of learning. Today’s gratitude is for that lively, wandering part of you.
The chronic cultural pull is to settle into what is known and safe — to stop asking once we have the answers we need to get by. Today’s gratitude honors the seeker who keeps asking anyway.
Today’s Three of Wands carries this exactly — the sacred first-horizon-seeker standing on a high green ridge above the sea, her cloak lifted by the wind, one hand resting on a tall living staff and two more planted in the earth beside her, small ships with bright sails moving out across the golden water below, a sprig of lavender tucked into her belt, her gaze fixed softly on the far horizon. She has planted her roots. Now she looks outward.
The rare embodied capacity for tender feminine seeking — the body who can, softly, stand steady on her own ground and still turn her face toward the unknown with wonder rather than worry.
The waxing crescent in Sagittarius on Mercury’s own Wednesday brings a particular invitation to the body: let curiosity move you. Not anxiety about the future, not planning every step — simply the open, eager wish to discover.
Jupiter, ruler of Sagittarius, is in Leo with Mars, and the young Moon trines them both from her fire sign. Three fires in harmony make this a bright, buoyant day — a good day to begin learning something, plan a journey, or ask a big question.
The newly-begun cycle carries, faithfully, its first words: kindling → meeting → claiming → seeking. The light was lit, the heart was met, the strength was claimed — and now the gaze lifts to the horizon.
Today asks the body one small practice: allow one small seeking. One small question asked out loud. One small new thing learned. One small look toward the horizon you have been curious about.

Today the growing crescent rises out of Scorpio’s deep water and enters Sagittarius, Jupiter’s fire sign, on Mercury’s own Wednesday. She sends a warm trine to Mars and Jupiter in Leo. After three days of depth, the light turns toward the horizon — a day for curiosity, learning, and looking further than usual.

Crescent Moon entering Sagittarius on Mercury-dayand the sacred geometry of the body’s tender first small seeking
The waxing crescent, now around 17–25% illuminated, entered Sagittarius in the early hours and moves through its first degrees today. The Sun rests at Libra 21°. After sunset, the crescent is easier to find now — look to the southwest, a little higher each evening.
Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter, and Jupiter is in Leo with Mars. From her new fire sign, the Moon forms a harmonious trine to both. It is Wednesday, Mercury’s day, though Mercury himself is still in Scorpio, slowing toward the retrograde that begins later this month. Venus remains retrograde in Scorpio. The mood of the sky shifts today from depth to breadth: from what is hidden to what is possible.
Somatically: this can feel like a lift in the chest, a lightness in the legs, an urge to walk, move, or go somewhere new. The small restlessness that is really curiosity, the small brightness behind the eyes when an idea catches, the small wish to learn something just because it is interesting. Let the body move with it.
The sacred art the body practices today: not escape, not scattered rushing, just open-hearted seeking. The Three of Wands teaches this exactly — the sacred first-horizon-seeker standing on a high green ridge above the sea, her cloak lifted by the wind, one hand resting on a tall living staff and two more planted in the earth beside her, small ships with bright sails moving out across the golden water below, a sprig of lavender tucked into her belt, her gaze fixed softly on the far horizon. Her feet are planted; her eyes are free.

To awaken quite alone in a strange town
is one of the pleasantest sensations in the world.
— Freya Stark, Baghdad Sketches
Freya Stark — born in Paris in 1893 and raised between England and the Italian hills; who taught herself Arabic and Persian; who in the late 1920s and 1930s traveled, often alone, through the remote valleys of Persia and the southern Arabian peninsula, mapping places few outsiders had recorded; who wrote more than two dozen books of travel and letters; and who lived until 1993, dying in Asolo, Italy, at one hundred — wrote these words in Baghdad Sketches, her first book, published in 1932.
To awaken quite alone in a strange town is one of the pleasantest sensations in the world. Stark wrote at a time when a woman traveling alone was thought reckless at best. Her line turns that fear inside out: waking somewhere unknown, with no one expecting anything of you, is not lonely but delicious — the purest form of freedom. The sentence goes on to describe being surrounded by adventure, without knowing what the day will bring. It is the seeker’s pleasure in a single breath.
Today’s Sacred First-Seeking lives in Stark’s words directly. The woman on the Three of Wands stands at the edge of the known, looking out at ships bound for places she has not yet seen, and the feeling in her chest is not fear. It is delight.
If you stood on a high ridge this morning and looked out toward the far horizon of your own life, what would you most like to see coming toward you across the water — and what is one small thing you are curious enough to explore this cycle?
Sometimes the tender first small seeking does not open easily. Responsibilities can crowd out curiosity, and the horizon can feel too far away to matter. The body’s soft first-seeking may feel like a luxury.
Three softer entry-points into today’s question, each honoring the body’s own faithful pace:
- Ships door: imagine three small ships sailing out from your shore. What would you want each one to bring back? Write three wishes, one for each ship.
- Strange-town door: if you woke tomorrow alone in a place you had never been, where would you want it to be? Write the place and one thing you would do first.
- Question door: write one question you have been curious about for a long time but never taken the time to explore.
The tender first small seeking of the sacred first-horizon-seeker — five small acts of soft feminine curiosity, honored as the whole holy work of this sacred fourth morning of the newly-begun cycle, on Mercury’s own venerated Wednesday.
Today’s medicine begins with the eyes. Most days our gaze stays close — screens, pages, the next task. Letting the eyes travel to the horizon relaxes the muscles around them and tells the nervous system that there is space, and room to wonder.
The Three of Wands seeker stands among planted staffs. She can look outward because she is grounded. Feeling both at once — roots and reach — is the heart of healthy seeking.
It is Mercury’s day, the day of questions. Stark’s pleasure in waking somewhere strange is the pleasure of not knowing what comes next. A question left open is a small door held ajar.
The Moon in Sagittarius loves learning for its own sake. One small new piece of knowledge is a ship sent out across the water, and it will return with more.
The closing whisper seals the practice. Nothing further is required today — the small first-seeking allowed here is, faithfully, the whole practice, complete on its own tender terms, blessed by the Three of Wands’ horizon-seeker on the fourth morning, as the crescent rises into Sagittarius’s fire.
